Week 3: Food Part 2

Craft:  I made this picture by taking the christmas cooking and putting it on the fire alarm.  I then stood underneath it and took the picture upward to make the cookie look larger.  I then zoomed in a little bit and turned off the flash so I could get the image that I wanted.

Composition:  I set the cookie on the fire alarm because I felt that it would be a weird place to find a cookie.  I wanted to be underneath it so that the small food would look larger than its suppose to.  With the red from the alarm on top and bottom and the cookie being a different color, the viewers eye is being pulled to where the cookie is at over anything else.

Concept:  In the simplest terms the picture is of a cookie on a fire alarm.  It's kind of weird to see a cookie on a fire alarm and could even come to a joke like "grab a snack as you escape the fire!" I'm mainly tring to show that the food can be bigger with the proper angle and the fire alarm just makes everything look strange.

Week 2: Food

Craft: I made this picture by taking jelly belly jelly beans and arranging them to say food on a table.  I then took my digital camera and stood on a chair above the table and took the picture facing in a downward direction, making sure to do my best to try and center it.

Composition: I wanted to do something fun with my food and would make things interesting for whoever looks at it.  I made the jellybeans spell something so that the viewers eye will instantly be drawn to the food.  I also tried to pick more brighter color jelly beans so that it would catch the eye quicker and to show that it is the main piece.  Finally I left it centered on the table so that it would instantly be the first thing seen.

Concept: The picture is of just jelly beans spelling the word "Food." The meaning is simply that jelly beans are something you eat and so therefore they spelt out to say food so you know to eat them.

Week 1: Intro

I originally attended Saint Xavier with the intentions of becoming a secondary education teacher with a focus in Political Science.  Halfway through the semester I grew to realize that I no longer had an interest in education and decided to go into film and video. Since Saint Xavier does not have much in film and video, I've decided to transfer to Columbia next semester to pursue the degree. As of now I'm taking a mix of art and design classes along with a few general education classes to get them done and out of the way.
